Liza and Alex will be in Port Douglas from the 20th April – 1st May.
We have a slightly reduced timetable with all classes being run by Cris, Michelle and Viv.
Casual bookings for all classes can be made here.
Over the past 7 years I have worked passionately as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor teaching cycle, kettlebell, HIIT, weightlifting and pilates. I have also taught more specialised sessions such as female only groups appropriate for Muslim women, school groups, disability groups, older adults and elite outdoor bootcamps. I also held a management position at a large fitness centre for a number of years before deciding to open Station Road Fitness in an effort to better serve my local community.
For the first 18 years of my life I hated exercising and I didn’t eat well. I felt lethargic, sluggish and embarrassed. After finishing year 12 I stood on the Lorne main beach in a baggy t-shirt that I used to try and hide my body and I suddenly felt a powerful resolve – that enough was enough and it was finally time get fit and healthy. Since that moment I have pursued cardio to the point where I was too skinny, gained mass in an attempt to build muscle and then lost weight again to compete in a fitness model competition. None of these pursuits were fulfilling, but I learnt a lot in these early years where I tried different methods of the “fitness” industry madness. I discovered what was unsustainable and what fuelled my drive to look a certain way which, for the most part, were external body image pressures. Over time I have been able to face this unfulfilling motivation and I can finally say that I am now in a place where I exercise for me and not for anyone, or anything, else. I exercise because I love feeling alive after a workout, I exercise because I love riding my bike to cut down on my reliance on my car, I love walking my dogs and being outside as much as I can and most of all, I love and respect my body and want to continue to feel this good throughout every stage of my life. I never want to go back to living in a body that can’t perform in the way that I want it to just because I am neglecting it.
Exercise is so much more than aesthetics. It helps to regulate your bodily systems, it boosts your endorphins to make you feel good, it helps to decrease your risk of chronic illness…the list is almost endless! Exercise will make you feel confident in how you look, not because you suddenly become a vogue model, but because you’re caring for the gift that your body is. Finally, exercise can give you a sense of purpose and belonging which is what I believe we have been able to create at Station Road Fitness; a place focussed on fostering a lifelong care for your body, alongside a genuinely supportive community of people that you will quickly be calling new friends.
I have worked as a fitness professional for the last 3 years and like Liza, have taught a diverse client base from general group fitness classes to men’s groups, disability groups, older adults, school groups, strength training and olympic weight lifting sessions and more. I also have a background in psychology and am currently working at a psychology clinic in Northcote.
I got my first gym membership in the Autumn of 2013 where it took me a while to commit to exercise properly. I still remember those first few weeks of going to the gym by myself. It was a pretty mediocre experience, if I’m honest. I wasn’t sure what I was doing and after going through the motions for a few weeks, I went less and less until it dropped off completely…and of course, I continued paying for my gym membership for months without a single use! The next time I went back to the gym, I came with my brother. Having a training partner, even one who was a novice at the time, made all the difference. The gym ceased to become a chore and instead became something I looked forward to. A few months later I changed gyms and started training with other friends, and the rest is history. Apart from when I travelled overseas for a few months, and struggled through the 2020 lockdown, I haven’t missed a week of barbell work since. Like Liza, I never enjoyed exercise as a kid/young adult. Exercise was only ever presented to me as a chore and if I was doing an activity that didn’t feel like a chore then I didn’t classify it as exercise.
After years of trial and error my passion now lies in strength training. It’s so simple. You move a weight, you get better at moving it efficiently, you get stronger and you feel really good for it. It’s as simple as that! My strength classes and personal training sessions are some of the most fun I have at Station Road Fitness.
Like you, I am human. I’m not one of those instagram personal trainer “influencer” types. In fact I often feel embarrassed to be associated with so much of the supposed ‘health and fitness’ industry. At Station Road Fitness there are no gimmicks or short term ‘solutions’ or $300 juice cleanse kits. Liza and myself focus on making exercise a part of your life, for the rest of your life! I have days where I don’t feel like exercising, I have periods where I stall in my progress and I don’t naturally spring out of bed at 6am! After years of making exercise a priority however, it’s no longer a chore, but rather one of the greatest joys of my life. I don’t know it all, but I will work with you to figure it out. I want to help you get to a point in your life where regular exercise, that you enjoy doing, is a part of your daily feel-good routine.

The team are super helpful and friendly and make exercising an enjoyable experience. Alex and Liza are so welcoming and flexible and help adapt exercises to help you achieve your personal fitness goals.
I started with Station Rd Fitness about 3 weeks ago and I'm loving it. It's the first exercise class I've done in years, and I love how flexible Liza is, adapting exercises to my current fitness level. She's incredibly warm and supportive, providing a lovely vibe that is not at all intimidating for a non-gym person like me.

Thanks for all the hard work you have done in 2020 guys! I highly recommend Station Road fitness to anyone looking for flexible and real fitness program.
I could not recommend Station Road Fitness more. With the help of Liza and Alex, I have been able to develop a healthy and fun relationship with exercise, and have met the most amazing community of people that I adore working out with. Every session is fun, inviting and tailored to every level or personal need, however also always good hard work and a great experience for both the body and the mind!
I have worked directly with Station Road Fitness as a trainer and a participant. Alex and Liza were great with providing different class outlines and the participants were some of the most friendly I've met! As a participant, classes are extremely engaging and most importantly Alex and Liza are very, very welcoming.
I found Station Road Fitness a few months ago and just love Liza and Alex’s approach to training and fitness. They are both down to earth, welcoming, friendly and motivating. They help you understand how to get the best from your body and how to achieve the results you want. I’ve done group classes and also personal training and love both options. Their flexibility and adaptability through building their business and then covid has been amazing. I highly recommend them!
Liza and Alex are very friendly and great trainers. They made our “becoming sporty people” journey very smooth and easy. Coming across Station Road Fitness about 3 weeks ago has been exactly what I needed in my life to lose the kilos! The variety of classes and the schedule serves us mums very well. Liza and Alex are tough yet strong trainers who push you to achieve better health and fitness. What works for me is their no-fuss and easy attitude to the classes and PT sessions that leave me feeling encouraged and invigorated after every session! (Not to mention sweaty and panting! )
I am so delighted at how strong and fit I am feeling thanks to Eliza and Alex. I was so out of shape after lockdown. Station Road fitness is a fully equipped gym with indoor and outdoor spaces. Bookings via the website avoids no shows and over filled classes. Without securing a booking you risk someone else taking your slot and helps Liza and Alex plan the classes according to how many people are expected.
Prearrange a time with your trainer before booking online. After this, click onto the calendar under “personal training”, select the day, session length, and time that you have prearranged. After that fill in your details, pay and confirm your booking. You will then be prompted to add this booking to your calendar. We highly recommend this because there are no refunds for forgetting to turn up.
ABSOLUTELY! We paid for a professional to build our website for this reason. All our payments go through Stripe, which is the second biggest payment processor in the world. Stripe doesn’t have an independent payment portal like Paypal does – so it won’t take you away from the website to pay, which streamlines your booking process.
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy.
